Kayla Patterson is a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, as well as a Child and Youth Counsellor. She provides individual therapy services to children, teens, transitional age youth, and adults struggling with a variety of difficulties such as emotion regulation, trauma, interpersonal relationships, self-esteem, anxiety, identity, and life transitions.
Kayla is a down-to-earth and relatable therapist who makes her clients feel comfortable and welcome in her judgement-free zone. She understands the importance of a strong therapeutic alliance and places emphasis on creating a safe, open, and non-judgemental space for the clients that she works with.
Kayla works from a trauma-informed and person-centred lens. Her approach is integrative to help meet each person’s unique needs and she draws from a number of approaches including Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), as well as experiential and attachment-based approaches. Kayla will often incorporate art therapy, somatic practices, and mindfulness exercises into sessions as well.
Kayla completed her practicum training at the Centre for Treatment of Sexual Abuse and Childhood Trauma (CTSACT) and has worked in a variety of settings including crisis support, community mental health agencies, section 23 programs, and hospitals such as SickKids and CHEO.
